There is so much wonder in the sprawling, sculptural promise land that is Gibbs Farm- the setting, the feats of engineering wonder, the ambitiousness of scope and monolithic scale of the work. The location, Kaipara Harbour, New Zealand (the largest harbor in the Southern Hemisphere) boasts an impressive display of Mother Nature’s many talents. Mountains roll into hills. Ridges, gullies and flatlands have been contoured over time and (a literal) tide. It’s a landscape that adds an exciting yet daunting challenge to that age-old artist dilemma, how to create, wow, wonder and surprise with a mind-blowing piece of art. Mission accomplished!
