Swimming pools. No question, we love them. Certainly, we plot ways to spend our free time idly lounging beside them. For sure, we are willing to travel extreme distances for the privilege of a fantastic view, first class service, or those that boast feats of engineering wonder. We’ve come a long way from the 3rd Millennium BCE and the “Great Bath “ at Mohenjo-Daro, believed to have been used for bathing rituals or religious ceremonies. Less far from the swimming pools of ancient Greece and Rome used for athletic training and military exercises, and just a few strokes from 1844 and London’s Maidstone Swimming Club, recognized as the oldest surviving swimming club in Britain. The history of the swimming pool is set in stone, but less certain are opinions about the best of the best. Everyone’s got an opinion, and we are no different. And, honestly, can you really go wrong?
