We all know how hard it is to resist looking in the mirror. Well, I’ve got one better – a challenge to resist staring longingly at what is undoubtedly some of the most captivating architecture out there. Like what you see? True, there are many examples of mirrored architecture in urban settings, and I’ve included several here, but what really has me mesmerized are what I’ll call the pop-up’s in nature. Each building is a part of the organic landscape while looking right at home just the slightest bit out of place. There is a blurring of the boundary between structure and setting that leads to a perception of invisibility and seamlessness. It’s there, but it’s not – and that discrepancy is a wonderfully fascinating thing to behold.
