Pilot will not light

  • Air in gas line (bleed line)
  • Low gas pressure (check tank and regulator)
  • Electrode not creating spark (try lighting with lighter or match) (adjust electrode gap and check ignitor battery)
  • Blockage in pilot orifice (clean)

Pilot will not stay lit

  • Dirt build-up around pilot orifice (yellow flame) (clean or replace pilot)
  • Corroded or faulty thermocouple (replace if pilot flame is blue)
  • Damaged gas valve
  • Winds above 10 mph

Main burner does not light

  • Low gas pressure (replace regulator)
  • Blockage in main orifice (clean)
  • Blockage in main burner (clean)

  • Blockage – Yellow Flame.  You need a good pilot flame. Clear out orifice/pilot area with air compressor.
  • Dissasembly – Only remove bottom sleeve from perforated body.  Leave top pan head attached.  Loosen clamp and slide burner off.
  • Make sure valve on heater is set to “Off” before turning on tank valve
  • Regulator may need time to reset if leak was detected
  • If pilot has blue flame and heater still will not light it is most likely a bad thermocouple
  • If pilot flame is yellow it most likely has a blockage
  • Lube / WD-40 and add tinnerman clips before reassembly
  • Check for leaks after reassembly!
